So, I read this article the other day about how Bush and his advisors have begun brain storming big themes for Bush to address in his next administration, should he win re-election in 2004. These were all big-ticket "legecy" issues that Bush would want to be remembered for, and one of them was returning humans to the moon. And I thought, "the moon?!?!" I mean, I'd seen recently that the Chinese had said they planned on sending someone to the moon, but haven't we been there and done that already? Then a few days later I saw a CNN poll that something like 70% of people polled supported going back to the moon. And I wondered how many of those 70% know how much such a program would cost. I remained puzzled to this choice, however, until I saw a thing on CNN today about how the space program would work closely with the military, and it all made sense.

More corporate welfare, hand in hand with the Neocons. Along with toppeling Saddam Hussein, many neocons are obsessed with militarizing space. It's genius, piggyback developing much of the technology needed to militarize space on the back of a "return to the moon" quest. And, at the same time spend even more money on the military and their friends like Halliburton and other connected firms. All this while cutting taxes.

How are we going to pay for education or health care or cleaning up the environment?
