this is what I've been doing all day: open excel file, delete 3 columns, save file, open file in STATA, run program to rename variables, drop one line in dataset, run program to change shape of data matrix, rename variables manually, run program to add country code numbers, drop observations of data that don't have numbers (as they aren't in my main data set), label variable of interest with specific description from initial excel file (which requires opening it again), make note of source of data, change display of certain variables to show they are numbers and not words, save data set. repeat.
