I saw the world's longest soundcheck last night. Er, certainly close to it. And despite all that work, poor Neko Case's monitor still wasn't working once they came on stage. The crowd got kinda hostile, which was strange, but they seemed happy once things finally got going around midnight.

The show itself was great. They played most of what I wanted to hear from the new album, except for Blown Speakers and the 2 or 3 songs done by Dan Bejar, who wasn't with them, and I guess isn't a full fledged member. I don't know, however, if the set was cut short because of the late start. They played till 1:20 or so, but then said they had to go. Neko looked good, red hair and all, done in briads/pigtails. Her voice sounded as great live as it does recorded.

Cinerama opened, and were good as well. I'd seen them several months ago, as Ballboy (a Scottish group I like) was opening for them. They played a bunch of new songs, all of which were really fast and loud (for them), so that was cool.

We had dinner with the Hot Chef prior to the show. It was tasty, as always. Special treat involved Eric coming out from the kitchen to give us a large thing of hot and sour soup, on the house. It was a pleasant surprise.

Oh, and mmm mmm good.
